“The mind stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions” Introduction: As per the provisions of NEP 2020, efforts are being made to help the students not only to carry a lighter bag but also to go without it. It mandates the participation of students in bagless days to learn through crafts and enrichment activities. Accordingly, in a novel experiment, Army Public School, Dighi conducted its ‘First Bagless Day’ for the middle school classes VI to VIII on Friday, 11 August 2023, in alignment with NEP 2020 guidelines and fostering wholesome learning environment to our students.

Art has many benefits for children. The fun filled and engaged activities focuses on developing creative, speaking, listening and fine motor skills of the students.  Healthy mind leads to healthy body Our first ‘Bagless Day’ began with students participate in Marathon- RUN FOR FUN. The race was flagged off by Mrs Yasmin Kaur, Principal Aps Dighi. The run began with high josh and enthusiasm. The first 50 participants were shortlisted and were awarded with certificate of appreciation. 

Movie Time :

Next was screening of Hindi movie Dangal. A true story, packed with many powerful lessons. All the students enjoyed the movie and were greatly inspired, as it brilliantly captures the attributes of hard work and perseverance.  Image minds Rakhi making and card making activities were conducted for classes 6 to 8 under the theme ‘Ode to Soldiers’. The students of grade 6 made attractive Rakhis and displayed them in an innovative way. The students of grade 7 and 8 made inventive cards for the soldiers with beautiful quotes and wishes. All the students were engrossed in completing the artwork. Each artwork was unique and exquisite. The main intention was to pay gratitude and tribute to our brave soldiers and to unleash the inner artistic in the students.

 Rock the floor (talent show) After the activity, a thrilling music and dance session followed, as music accompanied with dance is said to develop higher thinking and social skills. students were given opportunity to showcase their unique skills or talent.

These multi-skill activities would faster the development of soft skills such as aesthetic, values, cooperation, teamwork, judicious, use of raw materials, creativity, quality, consciousness, etc.

So, the day was abuzz with various activities that helps the children to gain knowledge, boost, self-esteem and to have unlimited fun.
