Today a reader, tomorrow a leader” is well stated by Margaret Fuller. Knowledge is the key to success and reading books is a great source of that knowledge. Our school library is the place where all the possible knowledge from books can be obtained and therefore, it can be considered as the sanctum sanatorium of our prestigious institution. It is multi-faceted with great support design, strong amenities, and popular programs. It is well adapted to accommodate new applications of technology for learning research and information, enabling improved access to scholarly material and resources.
The school has two libraries, one for the junior and the other for the senior wing. Basically, the architecture provides an ambience that is relaxed but modern; and space that is large yet intimate. The resources include books on an impressive array of subjects, course specific reading material, academic journals and various digital resources. The wide range of books includes topics from humanities, social sciences, applied sciences, media, journalism, literature, environment, religion, languages as well as biographies. It provides information, inculcates ideas, and develops knowledge that is very essential to the successful functioning and integration of today’s information and the utilization of knowledge in our society.
It is the hub of all the activities planned and executed in school. The library is effectively used by the students to prepare for their next class period, home examination, general education, information, competitions, recreation and above all, as a source of inspiration. To cater to the wide varieties of demands of students and teachers, it helps to judiciously select and procure the prescribed text-books and other reading material from different sources, technically process it by making use of a standard scheme of classification, catalogue it to provide various access points, organise the collection on scientific lines, circulate the documents and disseminate the information in the manner most liked by the students and teachers. In addition, the school library serves as a resource centre as well.
In addition, the library also provides suitable storage space and environment for preservation and upkeep of crucial documents pertaining to institutional record, history and heritage
The library is automated using ‘Digicamp Software’, which is a true enterprise-class integrated Library System with comprehensive functionality including basic and advanced options. The library offers facilities for learning and research with study spaces for more than 60 students and is also equipped with computers providing e-learning facilities. It also has ‘Kobo eBook-readers’ a top favourite among numerous bookworms, who love to indulge in the gadget. Another feature designed specially for the versatile and effective teachers is the ‘Teacher’s Resource Centre’ which equips teacher’s with the recent educational trends and teaching innovations. It houses a computer lab in its premises where students and faculty members can browse varied databases based on their requirements. All students, faculty and staff are automatically made members of the library and are able to borrow library material and resources.
